Arsenal will reportedly not attempt to sign Youri Tieleman’s in the January window, despite Brendan Rodgers hinting last week that the player could leave.

Youri Tieleman’s only has six months left on his current Leicester contract. That means January is the last chance The Foxes have to try and recoup some of the €45m they spent on him in 2019.

Arsenal have been leading the chase for his signature for a while now and, even though Newcastle United were showing an interest, Arsenal were usually seen as the most likely destination for the Belgian.

In fact, last month, it was even claimed that Barcelona had stopped their pursuit of Tieleman’s because an Arsenal move had been agreed.

Now, however, the Leicester Mercury are reporting that “Arsenal are not looking to buy Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans in the January transfer window.”

Arsenal are focussing more on bringing in an attacking player.

With a number of other clubs also interested in Tielemans, including from Spain, it remains to be seen if he will even be available come the summer.
