Arsenal have reached the mid-season point and are in a good position as they are still competing in all four competitions.

Arsenal have qualified for the quarter-finals with the draw on 10 February, 2023.

Arsenal started their Champions League season with a potential banana skin tie in qualifying round 2 against Ajax Amsterdam.

After a tense 2-2 draw at home, a 1-0 away win, thanks to Vivianne Miedema, ensured the club qualified for the lucrative group stage for the second year in a row.

The group stage was successful including a 5-1 away win at holders Lyon that gave us the momentum and in the end provided qualification to the knock-out stage.

Winning the group ahead of Lyon and Juventus was a great achievement that should not be underestimated.

The home defeat to Lyon was disappointing but, overall, the campaign has been successful.

Coming next is the serious business and Arsenal will have to raise their level if they want to win the trophy.

Arsenal are currently in second place, three points behind Chelsea with a game against Manchester City in hand

The home defeat to Manchester United unfortunately ended the club’s hundred per cent record that was building up to a possible unbeaten season.

It was a timely reminder that game management was not up to scratch as the team took the lead 2-1 to end up conceding two goals.

Nevertheless, the title hopes are very much alive, but there is a need to perform in the two games against City and Chelsea as well as United away.

Those head to head games against our direct competitors for the title/ champions league places will decide where the title will head off.

Arsenal mid-season review – FA women’s Cup

Arsenal will be at home to Leeds or Stoke City on Sunday 29 January in the fourth round proper of tournament.

There is a clear expectation of a win against a third or fourth tier side.

Arsenal mid-season review – Continental Tyres Cup

Arsenal will enter the tournament at home to Aston Villa in the quarter-final round on midweek 25 or 26 January.

Arsenal have qualified for the knock-out stage by making the Champions League group stage.

The performances this season have been good enough in many games so far. The club will need to hit the ground running after the break as there will be a six pointer in the league at home to Chelsea on 15 January.

There is also a big need for an influx of attacking signings to cover for the two long term injuries (Mead and Miedema).

With many injured players returning to full fitness, the club should be able to compete in all competitions should depth in numbers and quality be reached by the end of the transfer window.

Arsenal have to be ambitious and improve the squad to carry on being competitive at the highest level, especially as opponents at domestic and international level keep on improving.
