Aaron Ramsdale has revealed that he broke his knuckle at the World Cup, but it looks as though he’s now back to normal.

Speaking in a recent podcast appearance, Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale admitted that he broke his knuckle whilst on international duty with England, and he’s had to wear special gloves since the tournament.

“I’ll tell you something about those gloves, if you look at the two middle fingers, there’s no gap,” Ramsdale told The Fellas Podcast (via Yahoo! Sport).

“I broke my knuckle at the World Cup, so I’ve had to play, since the World Cup, with gloves like that.”

As you can see in the images above, there’s no gap between the fingers in Ramsdale’s right glove. However, the good news is that it looks like the goalkeeper has already shaken off the issue.

In pictures of Ramsdale’s most recent appearance against Manchester United, the goalkeeper’s fingers were clearly separated.

The knuckle injury didn’t seem to affect Ramsdale’s performances anyway, as he won the Man of the Match award against Tottenham Hotspur wearing the special gloves.

Hand and wrist injuries can be very damaging for goalkeepers, as they can’t simply put on a brace like players in other positions.

If Ramsdale really has made a full recovery already, then he was fortunate the issue didn’t end up playing a material role in his season. But we’ll wait and see what gloves he’s wearing in his next appearance.
