Former Arsenal striker, Lukas Podolski, was sent off during his own charity match after he confronted the referee. He apparently followed that up by throwing water in the direction of match officials.

Competing in the schauinsland Reisen Cup for charity with his current side, Górnik Zabrze, when things went a bit wrong in the semi-final against Rot-Weiss Essen, a game that saw three penalties awarded.

It’s a tournament that Podolski has been involved with for a number of years.

Podolski brought down an opposition player in the box, and was then sent to the bench. After thinking about it all for a brief moment, Podolski decided he would confront the referee, which earned him a straight red.

He then reacted by throwing water all over the place, including in the direction of officials which, of course, the media use to make the whole thing seem like more than just a manbaby having a tantrum.

Podolski is now 37 and signed for Górnik Zabrze in the summer of 2021 from Antalyaspor, where he had spent 18 months after leaving Japan.
