Yehor Danylov of Ukrainian outlet SportArena reported on Monday that Arsenal had made an improved offer for Mykhaylo Mudryk, with Shakhtar Donetsk considering whether to accept or to continue negotiations.

Fabrizio Romano reports that the new bid has a guaranteed fee of close to €50m (£44.2m), plus add-ons. The Daily Mail report that the total deal could be worth up to £62m.

Charles Watts reports that Shakhtar are yet to respond to the offer, and the club’s hierarchy will now meet to decide whether it’s acceptable.

The current bid is still significantly below their public valuation of Mudryk, but that was always likely. Arsenal are hopeful they can reach a compromise with Shakhtar.

The Times report that Arsenal have agreed personal terms on a five-year deal for Mudryk, echoing reports from the weekend.

Ukrainian outlet SportAnalytic report that Mudryk is getting closer to Arsenal, and the player has already held talks with Mikel Arteta over his role in the team if he joins.

Writing for The Guardian, Fabrizio Romano adds that Chelsea are also interested in Mudryk, but the player has his heart set on joining the Premier League leaders.

Mudryk has hinted at his interest in an Arsenal move on a couple of occasions recently, posting pictures while he watched the games against West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion.

Currently on a winter break with Shakhtar, Mudryk has scored 10 goals and assisted eight in 18 appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk this season, including five goals and assists in his six Champions League appearances.

If Arsenal don’t agree a deal with Shakhtar before the end of the week, Mudryk will travel to Turkey for their training camp beginning on January 9th.
