Folarin Balogun insists his future lies with Arsenal as Reims try to turn his loan deal into a permanent move.

Folarin Balogun has impressed on loan in Ligue 1, scoring 11 goals, with two assists in just 19 games.

As a result, Reims would quite like to turn his season-long loan into a permanent deal.

Balogun, however, is not interested.

Before the game against PSG at the weekend, Balogin told L’Equipe, “Arsenal is my family.

“For me, the club represents brotherhood and unity. There, I learned always to push my limits. I remember from training the permanent desire to progress on a technical level.

“For example, we had to control the ball for 45 minutes without letting it touch the ground. I even practiced that this morning [Thursday] in training.

“It doesn’t just mean on the pitch but also off the pitch. I think by the time I go back I’ll be in a better place to compete than I was before I left. I realised there were certain things I would struggle with but I think that’s a good thing.

“It helps you to manage stuff you’re uncomfortable with which is important. It is still early but definitely if I am around those sorts of names at the end of the season I would be really happy.”

In Sunday’s game, with PSG strong favourites to win Ligue 1, the Parisians took an early lead with a goal from Neymar in the 51st minute. With Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé joining Neymar in attack, it seemed that a victory was inevitable for Christophe Galtier’s team.

However, Balogun had other plans, as his late goal equalised for the visitors.

This result left PSG with just a three-point lead at the top of the table.

On the other hand, Reims moved up to 11th place, with a comfortable 11-point gap back to the relegation zone.

Before the game, Balogun also talked to Thierry Henry and paid homage to him by copying his iconic celebration after he scored.

He shared a picture of Henry doing the same celebration on social media and wrote: “Spoke to Titi [Henry] before the game! Only right to show my respect.”
