Borussia Monchengladbach have set a price tag of just €10m on Marcus Thuram, though it’s not clear whether Arsenal are in the race.

German outlet Bild report that Borussia Monchengladbach want €10m (£8.58m) to sell Marcus Thuram in the winter window, and they’re keen to cash in before they lose the player on a free in the summer.

90min sparked talk of an Arsenal move for Thuram recently, claiming the Gunners were watching the French striker with his contract running down.

But Bild didn’t mention Arsenal as one of the interested sides in their report.

They claim plenty of clubs are in the mix for Thuram, from Bundesliga sides Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund to foreign clubs Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Sevilla, to Premier League sides Newcastle United and Aston Villa, but Arsenal don’t get a mention.

Borussia Monchengladbach assistant coach Oliver Neuville has admitted they’re going to find it hard to keep Marcus Thuram in the upcoming windows.

They’re expecting offers from Europe’s other top leagues, and the player only has a deal until 2023, with no expectation he’ll extend.

“He is having a fantastic season with many goals,” Neuville said. “He had a lot of injury problems last term, but still has a contract until the end of the season.

“I think it’s unlikely he will remain at Gladbach, because if he continues scoring like this, there will certainly be offers from Italy, Spain, and England.

“We need to be realistic about his prospects with us, especially now he has been called up by France for the World Cup. The odds on Thuram signing a new contract are not good.”

David Ornstein reported earlier this year that Arsenal are thought to have previously considered a move for Thuram. But none of the major reliable outlets have yet suggested that the Gunners will return for him in January.

Thuram has exploded in the new season, scoring 13 goals and assisting four in all competitions for Gladbach to break into the France squad just in time for the World Cup.

It had been well over a year since Thuram’s last appearance in one of Didier Deschamps’ squads before this month, having only made four international appearances in total at the age of 25.

But he’s in the squad now, and he came off the bench in the latter stages of France’s opening two group games.
