Garth Crooks named both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard in the BBC Team of the Week on Wednesday, following Arsenal’s 3-1 win over West Ham United.

On Saka, Crooks said “it was hardly a surprise to see Mikel Arteta hugging Bukayo Saka after Arsenal beat West Ham on Monday, given the lad’s performance”, adding “the confidence he has acquired from being on the biggest stage is clear to see”.

As for Odegaard, Crooks wrote: “Odegaard is not just playing well: his cool-headed leadership is exactly what Arsenal need…”

WhoScored also included Odegaard in their Team of the Week, as he earned an 8.4 rating in their system.

Odegaard provided two assists from five key passes and two big chances created, completing 93.4% of his passes, two of three dribbles, and having six shots.

The midfielder was heavily involved in Arsenal’s attacking performance and a big part of their eventual victory, and it was certainly a captain’s display.

As for Saka, he made his chances count. The winger found the back of the net with his only two opportunities, the first ruled out for offside and the second giving Arsenal an equaliser.

Saka also created four chances and one big chance, as well as completing 90% of his passes and winning 100% of his four individual duels.

The two talented young attackers will be a big part of whatever is to come for Arsenal this season, and they shone again on Monday night.
