Former Arsenal scout Yousuf Sajjad has taken up a role as technical director at FC Den Bosch, where Nikolaj Moller is currently on loan.

The Daily Mail report that ex-Arsenal scout Yousuf Sajjad is joining Den Bosch in the Netherlands, after turning down roles in the Championship and League One.

Highly rated in England after working for Arsenal and Chelsea, the 30-year-old is now reportedly the youngest technical director in the EU.

Sajjad was involved in scouting Billy Gilmour and Ethan Ampadu at Chelsea, as well as the likes of Lino Sousa, Reuell Walters and Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand at Arsenal.

But perhaps the most interesting Arsenal connection is to Nikolaj Moller, who was brought to north London during Sajjad’s stint at the club and is now on loan at Den Bosch.

The Dutch club must be pleased with Moller if they’re bringing in Sajjad after having the Swedish striker on loan for the last year.

Writing on Instagram about his departure from Arsenal, Sajjad said: “Proud to have spent four seasons at this amazing club. It has been a dream come true. Looking forward to following Arsenal as a fan and wish them the best of luck for the season.

“A massive thank you to Lee Herron and Per Mertesacker for all the support.”

Whilst it’s a shame to lose a top youth scout, Arsenal seem generally to have taken the approach that they’re not going to stand in your way if good opportunities arise.

We saw the same thing over the summer, with Dan Micciche and Kevin Betsy leaving their academy head coach roles for senior coaching positions in League Two.

It should work out in the long term, because other exciting coaches and scouts will look at a job at Arsenal as a potential stepping stone to progress their career.

The club becomes a more attractive destination if they help their staff to make that step. Good luck to Yousuf in his new role!
