Arsenal are reportedly doing everything they can to tie Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri down to scholarship deals, amid outside interest.

TheSecretScout report that Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City are among the clubs keen to sign Arsenal youngsters Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are doing everything they can to secure both players, but there are no new updates on the progress of their attempts to convince the duo to sign scholarship deals.

Ideally, Arsenal will get the pair to commit to scholarships before the summer, followed by professional contracts when they’re eligible for them at 17.

But for now, there’s a risk that either player could move on at the end of the current campaign. Unfortunately, that’s just the nature of youth football, where long-term deals aren’t allowed.

From an Arsenal point of view, it’s hard to see what more the club could do to keep Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri around.

At just 16 and 15 years old respectively, the midfielders are on tour with the first-team squad in Dubai, and Nwaneri has already made his competitive Premier League debut under Mikel Arteta.

By age, the two of them should still be playing u16 football, but they’ve been starters for the u18s and pushing into the u21 (and first-team) squad throughout the competitive campaign so far.

Arsenal have one of the youngest teams in the Premier League, making academy players like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe into starters, and those same opportunities should be available to Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri in the future.

Whether those chances will be available at clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea is another matter. But Arsenal need to convince the players of that.
