Arsenal sources claim it’s still too early to tell whether Gabriel Jesus will be out for three months, and further tests in the coming days will clear things up.

In recent days, the Brazilian media claimed Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury wouldn’t just keep him out of the World Cup, but that it would leave him on the sidelines for three months.

That would mean a return in March, and a long run of missed games for Arsenal.

But the English media aren’t so sure. Sam Dean of The Telegraph reports that Arsenal sources are saying it’s still too early to say whether Jesus might be out for three months, and Charles Watts reports that neither Arsenal nor Jesus’ camp will confirm the rumours.

Watts says that Arsenal know they have to provide an update to the fans, but they want to get the facts straight first.

The Evening Standard and The S*n claim Jesus will undergo further specialist assessments to find out the extent of his injury.

The former outlet claims he’ll see a specialist in the “coming days” while the latter claims he’ll see one on Monday.

Back in Brazil, one of the more reliable outlets UOL Esporte report that further tests are indeed scheduled in London, and the length of Jesus’ absence will depend on whether he needs surgery.

If he does, it will be three months out. If not, he could be back sooner.

Jesus wanted to remain in Qatar with the Brazilian team, but Arsenal were understandably keen to bring him back and get this sorted out. If the striker does indeed need surgery, the sooner the better to keep his recovery period from dragging on even longer.
