Brighton will be missing Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister against Arsenal, but Danny Welbeck could return in time for the game.

Brighton fans have received some bad news ahead of the visit from league leaders Arsenal on Saturday, with a couple of players ruled out of the match.

Moises Caicedo has been a key member of Brighton’s team this season, starting every single league game, but he picked up his fifth yellow card against Southampton and is now suspended.

Then there’s Alexis Mac Allister, another key player for Brighton, who isn’t set to return from his post-World Cup holiday in time for the fixture.

In terms of injuries, Adam Webster and Danny Welbeck both suffered setbacks during a friendly against Dubai over the World Cup break.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi confirmed last week that neither would play on Monday. As for the Arsenal clash, he said: “Welbeck, maybe against Arsenal, but I’m unsure for Webster.”

Jakub Moder also remains absent with a long-term injury, but that’s nothing new, as he hasn’t played a game this season.

Arsenal will be very wary of a game against Brighton, having been outplayed to draw 0-0 in this fixture last season, before losing in the League Cup at the Emirates Stadium right before the World Cup break.

If Brighton are without Welbeck, Webster, Mac Allister, and Caicedo, that will certainly help. Welbeck scored Brighton’s opener in that League Cup clash and has a good record against Arsenal in general.

All the same, Arsenal will have to be on top of their game to get a result away to one of the league’s form sides. Only Newcastle United, Arsenal, and Manchester United have more points from their last five matches.
