Brighton and Hove Albion will be without five players when Arsenal visit at the weekend, with Roberto De Zerbi confirming two further absences.

Earlier this week, reports had suggested Brighton would be without Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Jakub Moder against Arsenal, with Danny Welbeck and Adam Webster as further doubts.

Unfortunately for Brighton, manager Roberto De Zerbi has now confirmed that Welbeck and Webster will be out with injuries sustained in the mid-season break.

“Webster and Welbeck are not able to play [vs Arsenal] but we knew last week we had to wait another week,” De Zerbi said, also confirming that Mac Allister would miss the match.

Mac Allister is a key player for Brighton, but he isn’t set to return from his post-World Cup holiday in time for the fixture.

Caicedo has started every single league game for the club, but he picked up his fifth yellow card against Southampton and is now suspended.

Moder remains absent with a long-term injury, but that’s nothing new, as he hasn’t played a game this season.

Despite all the absences, Arsenal will be very wary of a game against Brighton, having been outplayed to draw 0-0 in this fixture last season, before losing in the League Cup at the Emirates Stadium right before the World Cup break.

But Welbeck scored Brighton’s opener in that League Cup clash and has a good record against Arsenal in general, so it’s certainly no bad thing he’s missing from the Gunners’ perspective.
