Arsenal are interested in signing PSG midfielder Carlos Soler, with the Ligue 1 club potentially open to selling for FFP reasons.
France Bleu Azur report that Paris Saint-Germain are looking to sign a top midfielder in the coming windows, but the club are incapable of spending the €60-70m that would require due to FFP.
As a result, PSG are open to selling Carlos Soler to raise funds, a player they only signed three months ago. The same outlet reports that Arsenal are still interested in the move.
Soler has made 12 appearances for PSG since signing from Valencia in September, scoring three goals and assisting one, as well as winning a penalty converted by Kylian Mbappe.
But the 25-year-old midfielder has only started five games in all competitions in his three months in France. He’s yet to complete 90 minutes in a single fixture for PSG.
Considering the midfielder is still settling in with his new club, none of that is particularly unexpected.
Players often take a few months to break into a starting lineup, and four of Soler’s starts came in the last four weeks before the World Cup, after just one start in the previous seven weeks.
Soler’s involvement with Spain at the World Cup could also boost his status, after he came off the bench to score against Costa Rica, although he remained on the bench for their draw with Germany and defeat to Japan.
If PSG really feel they need the funds and are willing to sell so soon after buying, it’s not impossible Arsenal will be in the mix.
The Gunners have been linked with Soler plenty of times in the past, perhaps this is the time it will finally lead to something concrete.
