Arsenal have lined up a number of matches as they prepare to return to Premier League action after Christmas, the first of which will take place this week on Thursday against Lyon at the Al Maktoum Stadium.

They follow that up on 13 December with a game against AC Milan in the same stadium before playing Juventus at the Emirates on 17 December.

There had been talk of Arsenal facing Barcelona at some point with a match even seemingly organised. That was then ditched for the game against Juventus, who themselves were expected to play Barcelona on 22 December.

That is not happening, either, now.

Football-Espana write, “According to reports from Diario ASXavi’s side have reached out to Juventus and Arsenal over the possibility of friendly games in Turin and London, but their offers have not resulted in firm agreements.”

Checking upcoming fixtures, Barcelona have no matches scheduled before the return of La Liga on 31 December when they welcome Espanyol.
