Arsenal are one of three clubs interested in Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister, but the player is likely to remain with his current side until the summer.

TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul reports that Chelsea, Arsenal, and Atletico Madrid are all interested in Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, and Edul ranks their interest in that order.

But the journalist claims it’s difficult for Mac Allister to leave Brighton in the January transfer window. The Premier League side currently have no intention to sell, so a potential exit is more likely in June.

This isn’t the first time an Argentine outlet has linked Arsenal with Mac Allister.

Earlier this month, AS Argentina reported that Atletico Madrid and Arsenal had already shown interest in the player, following his positive performances at the World Cup.

Mac Allister joined Brighton in 2019, making his debut for the Argentina national team not long afterwards. It took him a little while to become a starter with both sides, but he certainly is one now.

The 24-year-old has already made 14 starts for Brighton in the Premier League this season, only missing the first game back after the World Cup break – for good reason.

At the World Cup, Mac Allister started all six games that Argentina won, only missing the one match they lost against Saudi Arabia. He scored against Poland in the group stage and provided an assist against France in the final.

As we’ve already covered in reports on a potential Arsenal move for Youri Tielemans, the Gunners have a new midfielder on their agenda for 2023, but there’s less urgency in that area at the moment, with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny fit.

The suggestion is that Arsenal are more likely to look at the position in the summer, so Brighton’s hesitance to sell probably suits them well.
