Arsenal have reportedly tabled an offer for 17-year-old Arda Guler, a player they tried to sign earlier in his fledgling career.

In March this year, Arda Guler’s former coach confirmed that Arsenal had tried to sign the teenager previously.

Guler moved to Fenerbahce in 2019 from Gençlerbirliği, and it was when he was there that Arsenal tried to sign him.

“I don’t think Arda will stay in Turkey too long,” Erol Tokgözler said. “I know that there are offers from Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

“With each passing match, the number of these teams will increase. €20-30m for Arda will remain very ordinary.”

Now, Arsenal have reportedly returned with another ‘serious’ offer for the attacking midfielder, who is valued at around €10m.

Guler is under contract until 2025 after signing a renewal earlier this year, around the same time his former coach was bigging him up for a move to Arsenal or Bayern Munich. Funny how that works, huh?

He has made 13 appearances this season, totalling three goals and an assist in just 305 minutes of football.

Fenerbahce are said to be keen to keep Guler until at least the end of the season and hope that a title win and Champions League qualification will push his price up even further.

Their president, Ali Koc, recently said, “If we win the league this season our chances of Champions League football are high, you [Guler] could be among the team captains next season and prove yourself on the highest stage.

“With the experience gained you’ll move onto the next step of your journey with stronger foundations and everyone will be behind you.”
