Mykhaylo Mudryk has admitted he checks up on Arsenal’s results and watches their games, amid recent links with a potential transfer.
In an interview with Oleksandr Zinchenko’s partner Vlada Zinchenko, Mykhaylo Mudryk discussed a variety of topics, including the teams he’s been keeping an eye on recently.
Vlada asked the Ukrainian winger which sides he thought were playing nice football this season.
“Napoli, they’re playing really well at the moment with some great players, Bayern, City, and Arsenal,” Mudryk responded (via Zorya Londonsk).
“Yeah (I follow Arsenal closely). I check on them in ‘myscore’ and know when they’re playing I can check on them.
“I also watch them too. (Arsenal are) a very dynamic side, in general not just in controlling possession but also in scoring goals.
“From a purely theoretical perspective if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal…it’s a tough question and involves a lot of factors in my answer.”
It’s worth keeping in mind that Mudryk was talking to the partner of an Arsenal player, but it’s still nice to see the Gunners getting recognition for their style of play from further afield.
It’s also not the first time Mudryk has discussed Arsenal and the potential for a transfer to north London.
“Every guy dreams it (playing in the Premier League),” Mudryk said in September. “Arsenal are a very good team, very good coach, I like the way they play.
“From my side, I can’t say no (if Arsenal made an offer). But transfers are not only my decision and my word.
“In winter, we will see. There were a lot of discussions about the transfer, about clubs who want me. But it’s normal. Now, I’m in Shakhtar and I want to play in this team. I love this team.”
Fabrizio Romano recently claimed that Arsenal remain interested in Mykhaylo Mudryk, having followed the winger for a long time.
The Gunners reportedly haven’t made any decision yet, but they’ll need to move fast if they want to do a deal. The race is still very open and Shakhtar want €60m+.
Ben Jacobs reported in October that Arsenal are indeed one of the clubs interested in Mudryk ahead of the January transfer window, though they didn’t make a bid in the summer.
David Ornstein confirmed for The Athletic in August that Mudryk was among Arsenal’s candidates for a wide-forward signing before they ultimately shifted to the pursuit of a midfielder.
Mudryk has scored eight goals and assisted eight in his 16 appearances this season.
