A completely bonkers report claims that there will be an ‘upcoming offer’ of €60m plus Albert Sambi Lokonga from Arsenal for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

It’s been a while since Arsenal were seriously linked with a move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but his name has been appearing with increasing regularity in relation to Arsenal over recent months.

Sport.fr cover a story they claim to have picked up in the British media but those reports seem to stem from Caliciomercatoweb, who write that Arsenal are ‘willing to do anything’ to get the player.

They add that to get negotiations started Arsenal are prepared to put Albert Sambi Lokonga ‘on the plate’.

They value Lokonga at around €25m, adding that it “would be accompanied by a substantial cash offer of at least 50-60 million.”

It’s worth noting that, although this story is clearly bananas, this is far from the first time that Lokonga has been mentioned as a makeweight. That could be down to a keen Italian press wanting to get the Belgian to a Seria A club, or it could indicate that Arsenal are indeed open to replacing him.

Anyway, this whole thing seems completely ridiculous, but I should also note I’ve said that a fair few times over the years I’ve been doing this and have not always been right.

Milinkovic-Savic is currently valued at around £54m with a contract with Lazio that runs until 2024.

He has five goals and seven assists in 17 games this season.
