Arsenal will learn their FA Cup third-round opponents on Monday, as the draw is held for the next stage of the competition.

FA Cup Draw

The FA Cup third-round draw takes place on Monday, 28th November, between 19:00 and 19:30 GMT. The draw will be broadcast live on the Emirates FA Cup Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts, as well as on BBC Two.

Arsenal will be the number 2 in the draw, with 64 teams involved in the competition at this stage.

Some of the teams are yet to be determined, however, with the second round still ongoing at the time of writing. You can find the full list of Arsenal’s potential opponents here.

That list includes a number of sides containing Arsenal loanees:

  • Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Southampton)
  • Auston Trusty (Birmingham City)
  • Brooke Norton-Cuffy (Rotherham United)
  • Charlie Patino (Blackpool)
  • Harry Clarke (Stoke City)
  • Salah-Eddine Oulad M’hand (Hull City)
  • Tim Akinola (Chesterfield)
  • Tyreece John-Jules (Ipswich Town, if they defeat Buxton in the second round)

But Arsenal won’t play against any of their loan players, as the FA Cup rules state that “the Association will not give permission for players on loan or work experience to play against the lending Club”.

With Arsenal exiting the League Cup in their first match, the FA Cup is their only remaining opportunity for domestic cup glory this season.

You’d imagine the Gunners will take the FA Cup more seriously, particularly as the early rounds of the competition fall on weekends.

It’s not like the League Cup, where the fixtures were squeezed in between consecutive weekend matches in the Premier League. If Arsenal don’t reach the FA Cup fourth round, they’ll have two weeks without a game at the end of January.

So there’s little downside to playing a strong team, not to mention Arsenal’s long and successful history with the competition. But we’ll see who Mikel Arteta’s side draw on Monday.
