Aaron Ramsdale is not getting carried away as Arsenal go into the World Cup break five points ahead of Manchester City saying that having a ‘a bit of a bumper’ ‘means nothing really’.
Wolves is always a tough place to go to for Arsenal and it was no different on Saturday night.
Despite their position at the bottom of the table, thanks to their inability to score goals (eight in 15 games), Wolves were stubborn and hard to break down.
Arsenal weren’t helped by a bout of food poisoning that was running through the starting lineup affecting five players, including Granit Xhaka who had to come off with only 16 minutes on the clock.
Still, in the second half, Arsenal found a way to break through Wolves’ resistance thanks to a Martin Odegaard brace, talking him to six goals for the season.
Arsenal’s club captain is also the club’s highest goalscorer.
“Every win is very big for us – away from home and at home,” Ramsdale told Sky Sports after the game.
“This place is tough to come and they showed that for 45 minutes. Massive win going into break and a bit of a bumper [ahead of City] but that means nothing really.
“Things will change over the break and we have to come back how we finished it.”
Ramsdale, as a childhood West Brom fan, perhaps enjoyed the evening more than most:

Premier League football now takes a break until Boxing Day with Arsenal on top of the Premier League table for Christmas for the first time since 2007.
