As Bukayo Saka scored his first and second World Cup goal on his debut in the competition on Monday, a number of his Arsenal teammates past and present were watching on.

Reiss Nelson posted five heart emojis along with a clip of Saka’s first goal of the game on his Instagram story, whilst Rob Holding posted “yes sir!!!!” and tagged the England goalscorer.

Academy teammate Tyreece John-Jules posted “my boyyy” in response to Saka’s first goal, and even international rival and club teammate Granit Xhaka reposted Arsenal’s post about Saka’s performance on his own Instagram story.

Emile Smith Rowe also enjoyed the performance, tweeting Saka’s name along with a goat emoji and a tearful emoji.

After such a strong start to the tournament, we might all get to watch a lot more of Saka in an England shirt over the coming weeks.

It’s hard to leave the winger out in his current form, and he seems to have shaken off any pre-tournament nerves immediately.
