There was good news on the injury front for Arsenal on Wednesday as a few players with injury concerns were involved in training.

Bukayo Saka, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Mohamed Elneny were all in training with Arsenal on Wednesday, following their respective injury problems.

Saka came off early with an ankle issue on Sunday, forcing him out of a couple of training sessions this week, but he’s back in action now. Zinchenko and Elneny have both been out for much longer, but they’re almost ready to return to the pitch.

“They are at different stages,” Arteta said of the trio. “Mo (Elneny) had a long-term injury but he has recovered now in a really good way and has been training with the team for a week or two.

“Alex (Zinchenko) is just very recent and he’s had two training sessions. Bukayo just missed one or two sessions and was fine today.

“We’re using our brains and our common sense, but obviously he had a kick and wasn’t comfortable. We made a decision to get him off, and now he’s feeling fine.”

Saka could reportedly be fit to face Zurich on Thursday night, but Arsenal won’t want to take any risks with him – especially with the Chelsea game on Sunday.

Elneny looks the most likely of the other two to return on Thursday, but there are no guarantees.

With Saka, Zinchenko, and Elneny all back involved, there were only a couple of players missing from training.

Emile Smith Rowe remains absent, and won’t return until after the World Cup. Meanwhile, Matt Turner is also still unavailable, suggesting Aaron Ramsdale will start against FC Zurich and a couple of youth goalkeepers will make the bench.
