After picking up an injury problem in Arsenal’s u21 fixture against Stoke City in the Premier League Cup just over a week ago, Khayon Edwards had to undergo surgery this week.

The good news is that Edwards reports it was a “successful operation” adding that the “road to recovery starts now”.

The problem appeared to be an issue with Edwards’ ankle, and he was stretchered off the pitch against Stoke, so there were concerns that it could be a serious injury.

Those worries turned out to be valid, but with surgery going well, Edwards can just focus on his comeback now.

Meanwhile, Maldini Kacurri has posted on his Instagram story to confirm he’ll be “soon back” after suffering an injury problem of his own.

Kacurri had been impressing with the Arsenal u18s this season, to the extent that he’d been called up to the u21s on a few occasions. But the centre-back was unexpectedly absent from both squads last week, and now we know why.

As for Edwards, he hasn’t had much luck with injuries this season, having already missed a few games with a hamstring problem. But he’d scored a few goals for the u21s when available, and he’d impressed Mikel Arteta enough to get multiple first-team call-ups.
