The official Dallas Cup site has confirmed that Arsenal will send a team to the youth tournament in April 2023, with the event to be played between the 2nd and 9th of the month.

Arsenal will be taking part in the u19 age group, and they’ll be allowed to take a squad of 22 players to the event. Most likely, the squad will be composed of a mix of u21 and u18 players, but the exact details will need to be ironed out closer to the time.

The tournament begins with a round-robin group stage of 90-minute matches, followed by the knockout stages.

Arsenal are the first team to be confirmed for the tournament, so it’s not yet known who they’ll face or how many teams will be involved in this edition.

Typically, the u19 edition consists of two or three groups of four, followed by semi-finals and a final. Obviously if there are three groups, then only the group winner and one of the runners-up progress to the semi-final.

The Dallas Cup has offered opportunities for Arsenal to showcase some of their top youngsters in recent years.

In 2018, Bukayo Saka was the breakout star as Arsenal made it to the final. For many fans, that was probably the first time they’d ever seen the winger play.

A year later, Folarin Balogun scored three goals in two games as Arsenal fell to a group-stage exit, despite winning two of their three matches – narrowly missing out on progressing on goal difference.

Perhaps this year we’ll see the likes of Ethan Nwaneri, Myles Lewis-Skelly, and others showing what they can do.
