UEFA have hit PSV Eindhoven with four charges following crowd disturbances on Thursday night, whilst it seems Arsenal have escaped punishment.
The Evening Standard report that UEFA have opened disciplinary proceedings against PSV Eindhoven following the crowd trouble at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night.
PSV fans threw chairs and flares from the away end after their team suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Gunners, and UEFA have charged the club with throwing of objects, lighting of fireworks, acts of damage, and crowd disturbances.
Arsenal haven’t been charged, which suggests they’ve escaped punishment. There was obviously some risk the Gunners would face a charge for failing to prevent the PSV fans from bringing fireworks in.
As well as the UEFA charges, the Metropolitan Police have made two arrests, one on suspicion of throwing a flare, another on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

There’s never any justification for these kinds of scenes, but they’re even more bizarre after a game like Thursday night’s. The two teams didn’t play out a particularly fiery contest, and the fans hardly interacted at all during the match.
The PSV fans were presumably just frustrated at a poor game for their team, and they didn’t know how to manage their emotions like adults.
