Bukayo Saka had to be replaced in the 27th minute of Arsenal’s game against Nottingham Forest, so what is the latest on the 21-year-old?
Bukayo Saka being fouled seems as invisible to referees as Harry Kane committing red card offences.
Hardly three minutes were on the clock when Bukayo Saka was given an almighty kick in Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Sunday.
While the referee, Simon Hopper, did actually give a free kick, no card followed. As a result, Forest just kept kicking Saka until he could take no more and was replaced in the 27th minute.
Speaking after the game, Mikel Arteta was asked about Saka’s injury.
“It was a bad kick,” Arteta said. “I don’t see any further than that (kick)”
“He was kicked a few times and it wasn’t helpful.”
A bad kick, as frustrating as that is, is much better than a muscle injury.
With FC Zurich midweek, Saka can be rested and will hopefully be recovered fully for the game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next week.
Reiss Nelson, who replaced Saka and scored a brace, along with grabbing an assist, was also asked about his injured teammate after the game.
“Of course, it is a huge shame for Arsenal and the nation and we will go and check now and see how he is is,” Nelson said.
“He’s a great boy and it’s great to have him in the team.
“We are just trying to do well for the gaffer and the team. We’re top now and it’s nice, hopefully we can go all the way.”
