Dani Ceballos was determined to make it at Real Madrid but, despite signing for the club from Real Betis in 2017, the midfielder has made only 83 appearances.

He made 77 for Arsenal.

With his contract set to expire in the summer there had been talk of a new deal for Ceballos but it seems common sense has prevailed and he will leave at the end of the season.

He is expected to return to Real Betis on a free transfer.

That could mean a massive summer for Betis in 2023 with Hector Bellerin also expected to sign for free when his one-year deal with Barcelona expires.

Betis were desperate to bring him back after his loan but were unable to afford his wages.

Both players will be hoping Betis have managed to sort their finances out ahead of next summer.
