Around six Premier League clubs are set to hold a pre-season tournament in 2023, and Arsenal may be one of those involved.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that plans are being discussed for a pre-season tournament in the United States in 2023, anticipated for late July. Around six Premier League clubs would be divided into two groups playing round-robin friendlies.

The tournament would be Premier League branded and 14 of the league’s 20 sides are reportedly keen to be involved.

Ornstein writes that it’s not clear whether any of the big six intend to take part, but there’s optimism that at least one of them would decide to join.

Arsenal Fixture News reports that they’re hearing conflicting stories about Arsenal’s pre-season plans for 2023, with differing claims putting forward Australia and the USA.

If it’s another trip to the States, perhaps that would make Arsenal’s participation in the Premier League event more likely. But nothing is confirmed just yet.

With no international tournament for the Arsenal senior squad next summer, it’s going to be easier to get everyone involved in a full pre-season programme.

After the success of this season’s schedule, where Arsenal won 5-3 against FC Nurnberg in Germany, won three straight games against Everton, Orlando City, and Chelsea in the U.S., and then returned to England to thrash Sevilla 6-0, they’ll probably be in favour of a similar set of fixtures next summer.
