The England u17s are playing in a four-team group this week to try and qualify for the u17 Euros next summer in Hungary. Ryan Garry named his squad on Monday, and Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly both received call-ups.

Despite his first-team debut this season, Nwaneri doesn’t turn 16 until next year, whilst Lewis-Skelly only celebrated his 16th birthday this month.

But the duo are highly rated in youth football, and it’s no surprise to see them involved with the England u17s this week.

This week’s group is only the initial round of qualifying, with the top two teams guaranteed progression to the Elite Round of qualifiers next March, along with the four best third-placed teams from the 13 groups.

England play Lithuania, Georgia, and Israel in this initial group stage. All three games will be played in Georgia, with the fixtures as follows:

  • Tuesday, 25th October, 12:00 BST: Lithuania vs England
  • Friday, 28th October, 15:00 BST: Georgia vs England
  • Monday, 31st October, 14:00 BST: Israel vs England

Both Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri featured for the Arsenal u21s last week, but they’ll now miss the u18 match against Aston Villa on Saturday and the u21 match against Crystal Palace on Monday for their international commitments.
