Reiss Nelson is hoping to join Marquinhos in the starting lineup against FK Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, giving Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli a rest.

The Evening Standard report that Marquinhos is expected to start on Thursday after impressing since joining Arsenal in the summer, and Reiss Nelson is hoping to join him in the side.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly likely to rotate his side between the derby win last weekend and the Liverpool clash this Sunday, with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in line for rests.

That gives Nelson a route into the team, given Emile Smith Rowe is unavailable to replace Martinelli on the left wing.

You’d also expect to see heavy rotation in other areas of the pitch.

Eddie Nketiah can come in for Gabriel Jesus, whilst the back four of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Gabriel, William Saliba, and Ben White can swap out for Kieran Tierney, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Rob Holding, and Cedric Soares – following his return from injury.

Matt Turner will likely start in goal, just as he did against FC Zurich, and Fabio Vieira can replace Martin Odegaard on the right of midfield.

It’s only in the other two midfield positions where Arteta may be forced to stick with one of his Premier League starters. With Emile Smith Rowe and Mohamed Elneny out for the long term, Arsenal are lacking midfield alternatives.

Albert Sambi Lokonga is available to start, but Granit Xhaka may have to keep his place unless Arteta is willing to call up an academy player. Matt Smith is probably the most likely if he does.
