“I’m very proud,” Tierney said.
“I never knew going into the game as well, it was after the game a few people told me and I had a few texts so yeah it’s a great achievement, I’m very proud and I’m grateful for the chances I’m getting.
“I’ve been through a lot, the world’s been through a lot since the first one, but it’s good, I’m enjoying it.”
The full-back made his debut for the club in a 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on 24 September, 2019. His debut was delayed due to a hernia problem he arrived with.
Tierney has been used sparingly this season. He has played the full 90 three times, only one of which has come in the Premier League.
This is no bad thing.
He clearly has a problem with injuries that existed long before he arrived at Arsenal yet every manager, national team included, seems to try and squeeze every possible minute out of his legs.
This way, hopefully he’ll bring up his 200 much quicker.
