Granit Xhaka won Arsenal’s Player of the Month award for September, taking a huge share of the fan vote in the end.
Arsenal confirmed on Monday that Granit Xhaka had won their Player of the Month award for September, earning 83% of the vote. Gabriel Jesus finished second with 8%, whilst Bukayo Saka received 6%.
Reacting to receiving the award, Xhaka sent a message to the fans on Twitter.
“I just want to say thank you for voting me for the Player of the Month,” Xhaka said. “It’s a pleasure and means a lot for me to win this award.
“And not only me, but all the players, they deserve to win this award. And yeah, you guys, you can see we are working very hard, pushing each other very hard to achieve the goals.
“Keep belief with each other and something big can happen. Thank you again and all the best and see you soon.”
Xhaka provided an assist against Brentford, and he was the only one of the four nominees to play 90 minutes in all three games in September.
His performances in his new position on the left of midfield have been excellent, and they’ve facilitated Arsenal’s recent progress as a team.
There’s no doubt Xhaka is a deserving winner of the award, and he’s already started October with the Man of the Match award against Spurs.
But it’s much too early to have earned a spot amongst this month’s nominees, with eight more games to be played.
