There’s some concern for Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes following the match against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday night.

If playing out a disappointing 2-0 defeat to PSV on Thursday wasn’t bad enough, there were some worrying reports of a potential injury to Gabriel Magalhaes afterwards.

Immediately following the match, Sam Dean tweeted that Gabriel was limping down the tunnel at the end of the game, and looked to be grimacing in pain.

Footage then emerged of the player leaving the stadium to get onto the club coach, with a pretty clear limp as he did so.

Gabriel only played 16 minutes of Arsenal’s match against PSV, coming on as a late substitute, so it would be a very unfortunate turn of events if he ended up with an injury.

The 24-year-old defender has played every minute of Arsenal’s Premier League campaign so far, and he’d be a big miss if he were to be absent for any serious length of time.

Though the World Cup break is coming up, Arsenal still have five more games in all competitions before then. Even then, Gabriel has a good chance to go to Qatar with Brazil, so he may not get the chance to rest anyway.

On the other hand, Gabriel doesn’t look to be a starter for his national team at the moment, so he should at least avoid the strains of competitive football for a while.

First things first, Arsenal will be assessing the Brazilian in the coming day or so to see if he’s alright to face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
