Gabriel Jesus believes he’s lucky to be playing alongside Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka, referring to the youngsters as “machines”.

Perhaps in part thanks to Nicolas Pepe going out on loan and Emile Smith Rowe picking up an injury, Arsenal have named a very settled front three in most of their matches this season.

New signing Gabriel Jesus has been given a regular starting role up front, whilst Gabriel Martinelli has nailed down his spot on the left and Bukayo Saka has maintained his regular starting place on the other side.

Part of what has made the trio so successful is that they’re all bundles of energy, ready to press and take players on and either score or assist depending on what the situation requires.

Speaking to the media ahead of Thursday’s game against PSV Eindhoven, Jesus admitted Saka and Martinelli have surprised him with their work rates.

“They are machines, I joke with them,” Jesus said. “I think I am a player with a lot of energy and I run all the time, I fight all the time. But when I train every day with them I realise I am not even close to them.

“They just don’t stop. They are machines, quality players as well, and they’re still young. I am lucky to play with them.”

In topping the Premier League table and their Europa League group, Arsenal have benefitted from plenty of goals and assists from their front three.

Saka and Jesus both have five goals and four assists in all competitions, whilst Martinelli has four goals and a couple of assists so far.

The even spread of goals has helped Arsenal to ensure they’re more difficult to shut down, particularly with Granit Xhaka also scoring four and Martin Odegaard scoring three to complete the attacking quintet.

The key will be to keep those attacking machines ticking over for a full season.
