FK Bodo/Glimt have stressed that they won’t allow supporters to wear Arsenal-branded clothing in the home end on Thursday.

Arsenal face a tough test away to FK Bodo/Glimt on Thursday, and based on the enthusiasm from the away end at the Emirates last week, it could be an intimidating atmosphere for the Gunners.

However, Arsenal are a popular club in Norway, particularly with Martin Odegaard as captain of both the Gunners and his home country.

It’s inevitable that some supporters will be followers of both Bodo/Glimt and Arsenal, and other locals might purely support the English team.

To address the risk that those fans might turn up in Arsenal shirts in the home end, Bodo/Glimt have released a statement insisting that any such supporters would not be allowed in whilst wearing Arsenal attire.

“There are many Arsenal supporters in Norway and many have both Glimt and Arsenal close to their hearts,” the statement read (via The Athletic).

“Therefore, we see it as appropriate to remind you that Arsenal effects are only allowed in the away end.

“This means that we will ask you to remove scarves, caps, t-shirts, jackets etcetera if these have the Arsenal logo or similar on them.

“However, we make an exception for match scarves or half-and-half scarves as this has become a common thing in stadiums around the world. Half-and-half scarves are the only exception.”

It’s likely a few undercover Arsenal fans will still end up in the home end, but whilst it’s amusing that Bodo/Glimt had to release this statement, it’s certainly for the best that they did.

Nobody wants their European night ruined by sitting next to an opposition supporter openly flaunting the colours of the opponent. That’s what the away end is for.
