Ben White says that nobody in the Arsenal camp is getting ahead of themselves as they notched up their eighth win in nine league games to take all three points against Liverpool on Sunday.

Unusually for an Arsenal v Liverpool clash, the Gunners went in as favourites given how well they’ve started the season and how poorly things have gone for Liverpool.

But this was never going to be an easy match for Arsenal and presented them with a number of obstacles that used to trip them up regularly, particularly in games against other big sides.

Taking an early lead, Liverpool pegged Mikel Arteta’s men back. Lesser Arsenal sides have collapsed at this point, or failed to grab a hold of the game again in any meaningful fashion.

This Arsenal side managed to seize it back three times against a Liverpool team that was being hailed as one of the best in that club’s history just a few months ago.

In short, no matter how poor people say Liverpool are right now, this was a massive performance and result for the club.

“Obviously playing against Liverpool is always tough,” Ben White told beIN Sport after the game.

“In recent years, we haven’t got the results we wanted. This year is different.

“I think all week with the gaffer, we’re ready for everything, tactically we’re ready and any situation that happens, we’re on it.

“I don’t think there’s any fear in our team, we’re all young, we’re hungry to be the best so that’s what we’re trying to do.”

“It’s a process,” he said about the progress Arsenal have made over the last year.

“We’re a year older all of us, more experienced in the Premier League and it’s going in the right direction.

Comments between Arsenal and Liverpool players referred to FA

“This squad is fantastic, I don’t think there’s anyone getting ahead of themselves. You can see that in the training that we do in the week. It’s game by game, we’re not looking too far ahead.”

Next up for Arsenal is a run of winnable league games.

They travel to Leeds next weekend, before playing Southampton and Forest. A trip to Chelsea comes before a home match against Brighton and then a trip to Wolves before football stops for the Qatar World Cup.
