Arsenal are planning a training camp in Dubai in December, and they’re in talks over playing multiple friendlies during the World Cup break.

The Evening Standard report that Arsenal are currently finalising their plans for the players not featuring at the World Cup this winter, and they’re looking at flying to Dubai for a warm-weather training camp in December.

The plan would be to travel in early December and stay until around the middle of the month. Arsenal are already in talks over playing a friendly against another top-flight team during the trip.

Arsenal are also looking to play another friendly when they return to England, before competitive club football kicks off with a match against West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium on Boxing Day.

The winter World Cup is unknown territory for Arsenal, as they have to figure out how to keep their squad fresh in the middle of the season while their players all play varying amounts over the break.

Those involved in the competition will hope at least one or two of them make it all the way to the World Cup final, but it’s inevitable many of them will exit earlier, whilst some won’t attend at all.

Even the players who receive call-ups for countries that go far in the tournament may or may not play a lot of football.

Aaron Ramsdale didn’t play any minutes for England as they reached the final of the Euros, for example. Yet he was still in attendance at games and in training up until the last day of the event.

Arsenal are going to have to manage each individual differently, which is a complex operation. Having some friendlies for the players who aren’t involved in the latter stages of the World Cup should certainly help.
