Shaaban made five appearances for Arsenal during his two years at the club after signing from Djugarden in 2002.

He also made six appearances for Brighton after a spell without a club following his release by Arsenal, but made his biggest impact with Fredrikstad where he made 46 appearances and won the Norwegian Cup.
