Arsenal are reportedly ‘leading the chase’ for Shakhtar Donetsk winger, Mykhaylo Mudryk but are they really?

Arsenal were heavily linked with a move for Mykhaylo Mudryk throughout the summer and rumours have persisted that the club will return to try and sign the 21-year-old that his club value at £40m+.

On Sunday, I came across a piece on the website, fichajes.net, with a headline that read “Arsenal favorite to sign Mudryk.” They aren’t the most reliable of outlets, but I thought I’d see where they were getting the information from in case there was anything to it.

They had got their information from Mail Online, so I went to read that piece to see where they got theirs from.

The Mail’s piece, with their trademark paragraph-for-a-headline, shouted out “Arsenal ‘lead race to sign Ukrainian star Mykhaylo Mudryk’ but face competition from Roma, who have already had bid rejected for the Shaktah [sic] Donetsk winger as the Ukrainians ‘put £40million price tag on his head’”.

So, where did the Mail’s information come from? yep, you guessed it – Fichajes.net.

The second Fichajes piece, headlined, “Roma joins the race for the signing of Mudryk,” mentions Arsenal being interested but it’s mostly about Roma. This is enough for the Mail to report that, “Now according to Fichajes.net, Arsenal could be back in for the left-footed star as Mikel Arteta’s looks to continue to add more quality to his squad.”

Mudryk has five goals and seven assists in 10 games this season. Roma’s bid of €30m was apparently rejected by Shakhtar who hope to be able to get something in the region of €50m by the end of the season if Mudryk continues to improve.
