With their 1-0 win over Leeds at Elland Road on Sunday, Mikel Arteta’s men set a new Arsenal league record as they became the first side in the history of the club to win nine out of their first 10 league games.
Nine out of 10 is superb for any side, never mind one that could well be 10 for 10 if Lee Mason on VAR for the game against Manchester United hadn’t been Lee Mason.
But, as it stands, the Gunners are four points clear at the top of the table having set a new Arsenal league record at Leeds on Sunday.
That not even the great Arsene Wenger sides have matched what Mikel Arteta’s men are currently doing this season is more than a little exciting.
That being said, with Manchester City on the scene, the points total needed to win the league is much higher now, not that Arsenal fans are saying (publicly) that they think Arsenal can win the league.
Arsenal have won the league 13 times before. The year of the Invincibles, they collected 90 points.
Manchester City won the Premier League last season with 93.
Liverpool won the league in 2020 with 99. The season before, City picked up 98, and 100 the year before that.
Even Chelsea racked up 93 when they won the league in 2017.
Leicester? They only needed 81, so all is not lost.
