Andy Robertson thinks Arsenal look amazing this season, believing that a number of teams have closed the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool.

With Liverpool facing Arsenal and Manchester City over the last week or so, left-back Andy Robertson believes the Gunners are one of the clubs who are now deserving of a mention alongside the title contenders of recent years.

“For the last three or four years, it’s always been us [Liverpool] and Man City in one and two,” Robertson said.

“Now other teams are getting involved, Arsenal look amazing this season, Tottenham look a different animal, Chelsea are getting going again, Man United.

“Those teams are trying to close the gap in terms of quality, but we’re too far behind to focus on that just now.”

Arsenal played a good game against Liverpool in their recent victory, despite a bit of a resurgence for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

After a poor start to the campaign, Liverpool have won four of their last six games in all competitions, including a win over title favourites Manchester City.

Even their draw against Brighton involved an impressive comeback from two goals behind. The only defeat in that period was to Arsenal.

Fortunately, Arsenal’s start was so good, and Liverpool’s so bad, that the Gunners remain 14 points ahead of the Merseyside club as it stands.

As long as Mikel Arteta’s men can keep winning at a rate even vaguely resembling their start, they should be able to leave Liverpool behind. It’s the other big six clubs that are more concerning.

Manchester City and Spurs are four points behind Arsenal as it stands, whilst Chelsea and Manchester United are eight and 11 points behind respectively, but both have a game in hand.

Win those games in hand, and all four teams would be within eight points of Arsenal.

That’s not a gap you can rely on with 28 games of the season remaining, so this is still just the beginning.
