WhoScored confirmed their Serie A Team of the Week on Tuesday morning, with Pablo Mari featuring thanks to his 8.1 rating. The Arsenal centre-back both scored and kept a clean sheet for AC Monza in their win over Spezia at the weekend.

Mari’s goal was an impressive one, taken on the volley from a corner to guide the ball into the top corner. You can watch it here or below from 1:52.

Whilst the goal was nice, the key takeaway from the game for Arsenal fans was that Monza’s continued winning streak has taken them well clear of the relegation zone.

Having sat bottom of the league just a few games ago, Monza are now 12th and five points clear of danger.

Mari’s loan deal has an obligation-to-buy clause if Monza avoid relegation, which now looks much more likely.

Elsewhere, Auston Trusty made it into the Championship and EFL Teams of the Week after his two-goal performance for Birmingham City against Bristol City.

The on-loan Arsenal centre-back also helped Birmingham keep a clean sheet in a big win for his side.

You can watch his goals here or below at 0:06 and 1:45.

It’s great to see the centre-back duo doing well on loan, and long may it continue.
