Most Brilliant Arsenal Wins in the Premier League Ranked

Since the creation of the Premier League in 1992, Arsenal has produced countless performances and has also shown that they’re one of the most exciting sides.

From these various performances, we’ll rank and discuss the top 5 most brilliant wins from the Gunners.

5. Arsenal 5:2 Tottenham Hotspur, February 26, 2012

A clash between these two North London teams is one of football’s most popular and fiercest derby games. As a result, a win for either team adds the required three points and gives them a bragging right over the other team.

Both teams delivered a seven-goal thriller, with Arsene Wenger’s side owning the day.

Early goals from the away side courtesy of Louis Saha and Emmanuel Adebayor couldn’t stop Arsenal’s desire and zeal as they came back and won the game in style, scoring five.

Bacary Sagna, Robin Van Persie, Tomas Rosicky’s lone goals, and Theo Walcott’s double ensured Arsenal went away with the maximum point.

4. Manchester United 0:1 Arsenal, May 8, 2002

Is there anything better for Arsenal than winning the Premier League at Old Trafford? Arsenal battled Manchester United at Old Trafford in one of the fiercest games of the season.

The Gunners needed at least a draw to secure the Premier League title, while Sir Alex Ferguson’s side needed to win to extend any title celebration until the final Matchday.

Sylvian Wiltord’s left-footed strike was enough to seal the victory and crown Arsenal the Premier League Champions for that year.

3. Arsenal 4:0 Everton, May, 3 1998

Arsenal secured their first Premier League title in style with two games left under Arsene Wenger as they thumped Everton by four goals to nil at the Highbury Stadium in May 1998.

Arsenal was followed closely on the log by Manchester United, who were table toppers with 11 points and favorites at some point. However, a win for the gunners would see them crowned champions irrespective of United’s result, so it was a crucial encounter.

Despite missing starman Dennis Bergkamp to injury, Arsenal got the game running after pressuring Everton’s Slaven Bilic to head the ball into his net.

Marc Overmars doubled the scoreline for the home team as he sent a powerful shot past goalkeeper Thomas Mhyre.

Overmars scored his second encounter goal before center-back Tony Adams sealed the victory to send the crowd into a mammoth celebration. As a result, Arsenal claimed their first ever Barclays Premier League title, and it was also Arsene Wenger’s first ever Premier League trophy since he took over in 1996.

2. Arsenal 4:2 Wigan, May 7, 2006

It was a much-needed win for Arsenal in their last game at the Highbury Stadium, as a defeat could have made them miss the UEFA Champions League spot for the following season.

They had to battle rival Tottenham Hotspur, who was also eyeing the fourth position on the log.

Fortunately, the Gunners won convincingly while Spurs lost to Westham, securing the Champions League spot for the Gunners.

Arsenal took the lead via Robert Pires before Wigan’s Paul Scharner leveled the scoreline. The stadium experienced an uproar when David Thompson gave Wigan the lead, putting the scoreline at 2-1. Once again, Thierry Henry was the name on everyone’s lip as he bagged a hat trick in that encounter.

However, Henry rose to the occasion, scoring the second and third goal before calmly slotting in the fourth from the penalty spot after the Referee dismissed Andreas Johansson for a foul on Freddie Ljunberg.

1. Arsenal 4:2 Liverpool, April, 9 2004

In arguably their best Premier League campaign, a season they went unbeaten, they encountered a troubling spell that could have impacted their quest for the league title.

After experiencing defeats at the hands of Manchester United and Chelsea in the FA Cup and Champions League, the encounter against Liverpool was a big test for them to uphold their run and shed off pressure from defeats in other tournaments.

Thierry Henry was the hero, as Arsene Wenger’s side sunk the Reds to keep their ‘invincible’ title charge going.

The Reds opened the scoring through Sami Hyypia before Henry leveled the scoreline. Liverpool was ahead again through Micheal Owen’s brilliant strike, but Robert Pires wasn’t having it as he leveled for the gunners again.

Thierry Henry took matters into his hands and scored twice to complete his hat trick, one of the goals a brilliant solo effort.

Arsenal regained confidence with this victory and finished the league unbeaten, winning their third Premier League title.
