The vast majority of English football matches were called off over the weekend and on Monday, but Arsenal loanee Ovie Ejeheri kept a clean sheet for Chelmsford City.

Over the last few days, Premier League and English Football League matches have been postponed as a mark of respect following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last Thursday.

As a result, it was a very quiet weekend for Arsenal loanees in England, with the exception of Ovie Ejeheri.

Chelmsford City play in the National League, and their match against Oxford City on Monday went ahead as planned.

Arsenal’s Ejeheri started in goal, and he had a pretty busy night for his loan side. He made an early save in the first five minutes, and an excellent reflex save around the half-hour mark to keep things level.

In the second half, Ejeheri had to deal with a dangerous mishit cross that almost found the net, and he saved a close-range effort with five minutes to go.

All his good work on the night was rewarded, as Chelmsford scored in the 88th minute to secure a victory and a clean sheet.

Ejeheri has had a strong start to his loan spell, only conceding two goals in his first five games for Chelmsford.

The 19-year-old was initially an immediate starter for the side, playing their opening four fixtures of the season, but he picked up an injury keeping him out for a week at the end of August.

On returning to the matchday squad, Ejeheri began on the bench against Havant & Waterlooville on September 3rd. After Chelmsford lost that match 4-3, it was no real surprise to see him back in the starting lineup on Monday.

After a clean sheet on his comeback, you’d expect Ejeheri to continue getting starts in the coming weeks.
