Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo for a while now and came very close to landing him on loan in January.

Now, however, it seems as if the 26-year-old will become a Liverpool player for the season as he joins on loan.

The above tweet says that Arthur is expected at Liverpool this afternoon to complete a loan move.

Back in July, the same reporter stated that Arsenal were no longer interested in the midfielder. The club did not hold any further negotiations with or for Arthur after they failed to sign him in January.

Arthur appeared to be a serious Arsenal target in the January transfer window, with Edu Gaspar even reportedly coming to a preliminary agreement with Juventus.

But, after the club hierarchy turned the move down, that seems to have been the end of the matter for Arsenal.

Some smaller transfer outlets have reported interest from Arsenal in Arthur at various points in the summer, but it’s never been backed up by the more reliable Gunners’ correspondents.

Due to injury problems, Arthur has never played more than 30 matches in a season due to injury problems.

There will reportedly be no option to buy in the contract.
