Arsenal loanee Ovie Ejeheri has made a strong start to his loan spell with Chelmsford City, but he arguably had his biggest moment yet on Tuesday night.

Playing away to Farnborough FC, Ejeheri’s clean sheet was severely threatened after Chelmsford conceded a penalty in the first half. But the Arsenal goalkeeper stood up to the test and saved the spot-kick to keep the scores level at 0-0.

Ejeheri had to be alert to punch away the ensuing corner, and he made further saves throughout the rest of the match to keep his side in it.

In the end, Chelmsford took full advantage as Harry Lodovica scored in the 84th minute to win the game 1-0.

Despite Lodovica’s goal, the Chelmsford fans recognised Ejeheri’s contributions to the win by awarding him the Man of the Match award in their Twitter vote.

Ejeheri was initially an immediate starter for the side, playing Chelmsford’s opening four fixtures of the season, but he picked up an injury keeping him out for a week at the end of August.

Thankfully, he was quickly back into the team upon his recovery, and he’s now kept three consecutive clean sheets since his return (four in a row if you include the one he kept before he got injured).

With five clean sheets and just two goals conceded in seven games, versus the six goals Chelmsford conceded in the four matches he didn’t play, Ejeheri is making himself undroppable right now.
