The Daily Mail reported that Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Atletico Madrid are all interested in Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, who has less than a year left on his current contract.

Now, David Ornstein is reporting that Arsenal are making an offer, Douglas Luiz wants a move, yet, despite the player only having 12 months on his current deal, Villa are adamant they won’t sell.

Villa are hoping to keep Luiz beyond this season, so they’re planning to offer the 24-year-old a new contract.

From Luiz’s side, he’s tempted by a move to a side playing in Europe, and is weighing up his options.

This isn’t the first time Arsenal have been linked with Luiz in the last 12 months.

Back in December, ESPN claimed Mikel Arteta was looking at Luiz as a potential option for his midfield.

Those rumours grew towards the end of the January window, with Birmingham Live and the Evening Standard reporting that Arsenal could make a late move.

Yet neither story led to anything, and here we are, doing it all again on deadline day in the summer. We’ll see what happens in the final hours.
