Arsenal defender Cedric Soares is set to miss a couple of weeks of football with his recent injury, according to a report.

Arsenal were without right-back Cedric Soares on Thursday due to what was described as a “minor knock” prior to the game.

The injury had the knock-on effect of forcing Gabriel Magalhaes to start a game for which he may have been rested, if Cedric and Takehiro Tomiyasu had been available to play right-back and centre-back respectively.

Ideally, Arsenal will want all of their defenders to be available for the busy coming months.

With Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, and Ben White starting pretty much every league game, it would be good to have someone else coming into the defence each midweek.

But Hrach Khachatryan reports that Cedric will miss a couple of weeks with his latest problem, which will take us to the international break.

As it stands, it doesn’t look like we’re going to have much football before then anyway, thanks to the weekend postponements.

Cedric is yet to feature for Arsenal this season, but he could still have a part to play in the campaign as things get busier. For now, he needs to rest and recover so he’s available when called upon.
