Mikel Arteta has confirmed Arsenal will try to bring in further players before the summer transfer deadline, with no guarantees yet.

After an opening-day win over Crystal Palace, Mikel Arteta has plenty of reasons to be pleased with his current squad of players.

Yet there are still areas of weakness to address, and the transfer window remains open for the rest of the month. If Arsenal want to dip into the market again, they certainly have that option.

In an interview after Friday night’s victory, Arteta was asked whether Arsenal would make any further signings.

“We are going to try,” Arteta responded. “There are a few things that we planned, and if we could do them it would be great.

“But now it’s [a case of] work with the players that we have, we are in the middle of the season already, and the focus should be with the players that we have to get the best out of them.”

Arsenal have obviously already signed Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, and Marquinhos for the first-team squad this summer.

In addition, they’ve brought William Saliba into the fold for the first time, following the Frenchman’s loans to France. It’s been a busy window already.

Yet Arteta clearly has more in mind for the coming weeks. Whether or not anything will be possible remains to be seen.

Arsenal needed to make some sales before they could buy anyone else, and they’ve started to do that now. But with almost a month left of the window, the fans may need to remain patient for any further incomings.
